Jewish Community Council
The Jewish Community Council of Tunisia serves as the representative body that oversees the religious, cultural, and social life of Tunisian Jews. Rooted in historic communities such as Tunis, Djerba, and Sfax, the council plays a vital role in preserving traditions, organizing key religious holidays such as Passover, Yom Kippur, and Hanukkah, and offering spiritual support to members of the community.
It manages synagogues, religious schools, cemeteries, and charitable institutions. The council is also responsible for preserving Jewish heritage and maintaining open dialogue with Tunisian authorities to ensure the rights and protection of the community within the framework of the Republic.
Acting as a bridge between generations, the council promotes the transmission of memory, history, and Tunisian Jewish values, while also maintaining ties with the broader diaspora. In a changing society, it strives to keep a centuries-old culture alive while adapting to modern challenges.
